This site is under construction (more-or-less continuously)
250 ft of 1/2 manila tied in:
A 6 strand braid loop
Then 12 stranded:
Matthew Walker
2 over continuous crowning
star knot
1 over alternate crowning
tripled globe knot (ABOK 967 with 2 extra tucks).
Hanging from a piece of English Ivy.
I have tied three of these in 2 inch manila and then embellished them
This is the first one I did in 2007.
This is the one I use as my profile picture everywhere on the internet.
This one was commissioned by a friend after she saw the one above in my backyard. It hangs by her front door.
Hanging on a Spliced Becket with Wall and Crown Knots.
A loop; wormed, parceled, wire stiffened, and covered with Ringbolt Hitching; closed at the throat with a Flat Seizing.
Bosun's Whistle Knot
#787 The Ashley Book of Knots.
5 Lead by 4 Bight Turkshead;
Saint Mary's hitching;
4 Lead by 5 Bight Turkshead.
Two 14 Bight, single strand Turksheads;
3 Lead by 4 Bight Turkshead;
Pointing with Needle hitching.
According to Sir Henry Manwaring (1644) the purpose of pointing was to keep sailors from pilfering rope for their own use (ABOK #3549)
ABOK #787 also called Marlinspike Lanyard Knot, Single-Strand Diamond Knot, Two-Strand Diamond Knot, and Sailor's Knife Lanyard Knot.
This is something a little different
The main knot, in 2 inch manila, is a two strand MW (Matthew Walker knot) doubled; then a single, two strand MW in the middle. The ends are 3 strand MWs (traditionally a stopper knot) and finished with sailmakers whipping. The embellishments are single strand MWs in cotton sash cord
